Vertiv to establish new facility in Malaysia, expanding APAC production capacity

Johor, Malaysia – Vertiv, a provider of digital infrastructure and continuity technologies, has outlined plans to enlarge its manufacturing presence in APAC with the development of a new production site in Johor, Malaysia.

The facility is scheduled to become fully operational in the first quarter of 2026 and is intended to strengthen the company’s ability to serve regional demand for advanced data centre and computing infrastructure. The investment forms part of Vertiv’s broader expansion strategy as demand increases for infrastructure capable of supporting AI workloads and high-density computing environments.

Once operational, the Johor plant is expected to support customers across rapidly expanding APAC markets by improving supply chain responsiveness, increasing output capacity, and enabling shorter delivery timelines.

“This new facility represents a major milestone in Vertiv’s global manufacturing network. It gives us the scale, flexibility, and proximity we need to meet our customers’ needs quickly and reliably,” Andrew Whall, vice president of operations at Vertiv Asia, stated.

He added, “A facility of this importance depends on a highly skilled and engaged workforce, and we’re proud to be creating meaningful, high-value jobs in the region that support both our long-term growth and Malaysia’s broader economic ambitions.”

The location has been selected for its proximity to Singapore, established transport and logistics links, and access to dependable utilities, all of which are considered important for scalable manufacturing operations in the technology sector.

The company has indicated that the facility will be integrated into its global manufacturing network and will contribute to operational flexibility and resilience. The project also includes a focus on workforce development, with up to 500 skilled positions anticipated to be created locally over the next three years as operations ramp up.

Vertiv expects this approach to enable rapid scaling of output in line with market requirements, while contributing to Malaysia’s industrial development objectives.

The new facility will contribute to the growth of the nation’s advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet the accelerating demand for AI technologies and high workload data processing across the region.
