Singapore – Adyen, a global financial tech firm, has recently unveiled a strategic collaboration with healthcare services provider Thomson Medical. With this partnership, the latter aims to employ Adyen’s integrated payments technology to simplify the operational processes across the hospital and its services, thereby elevating patient experiences.

The recently established alliance also aims to reduce the potential for human errors and digitise financial reconciliation to accelerate and create more seamless patient experiences throughout its hospitals and clinics.

By working together with Adyen, the healthcare provider further intends to offer patients the convenience to make payments through their preferred modes and currencies. More specifically, this move is aimed at providing them with (1) swift, accurate, and smoother billing; (2) stress-free admission and discharge for inpatient care; and (3) booking and paying for services using Thomson Medical’s new mobile app.

With the integration of in-person payment terminals to the existing POS system in Thomson Medical’s hospitals and clinics, patients can enjoy a smoother, more secure, and more efficient payment experience.

Meanwhile, the hospital can also make a pre-authorisation charge on the inpatient’s credit card during admission, which temporarily reserves funds in their account. Said process offers an effective way for businesses to avoid asking the customer for their card details multiple times.

Lastly, the development of Thomson Medical’s new mobile app, Thomson Touch, delivers an integrated payment solution that enables patients to access billing information and make payments for medical services directly from their mobile devices. This new tool provides a convenient and transparent way to manage healthcare finances, reducing the need for additional calls or hospital visits.

Dr. Melvin Heng, group chief executive officer at Thomson Medical Group, said, “Patients place enormous trust and importance on the reliability and flexibility of their healthcare provider across all touchpoints, including payments.”

“By leveraging Adyen’s open architecture technology, with the efficiency and security it brings, we are better able to meet our patients’ needs, providing seamless and diverse payment options. This enables us to focus on our mission of providing quality healthcare,” Heng also shared.

Ben Wong, general manager, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong at Adyen, remarked, “The healthcare sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the demand for enhanced patient experiences and operational efficiencies.”

“We are pleased to find a natural synergy between Adyen’s single platform offering and Thomson Medical’s commitment to innovation and look forward to improving the overall patient experience with seamless, worry-free transactions,” he further added.
