Singapore – UNL, a micro-location database and mapping technology firm based in Singapore, has recently announced that it has partnered with GrabMaps to enable Southeast Asian businesses and developers to strengthen their hyperlocal location services and applications.
Said initiative builds on the integration of UNL’s pixel-based mapping with GrabMaps’ extensive location data, including addresses, POIs, roads, traffic, incidents, and imagery.
This allows businesses and developers to access advanced search, discovery, and navigation tools; calculate precise ETAs; customise routes for various vehicle categories, including 2- and 3-wheelers and EVs; and maximise fleet performance.
In particular, the integrated solutions will help businesses in fleet management, logistics, EVs, and the automotive space to reduce operational inefficiencies, cut costs, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new avenues for growth.
Xander van der Heijden, CEO and founder at UNL, said, “As one of the fastest-growing regions globally, Southeast Asia’s booming economy and increasingly connected population demand innovative solutions to meet the unique challenges of this dynamic region. We are excited to be joining forces with GrabMaps to bring the best-in-class location solutions to Southeast Asia’s markets.”
“GrabMaps’ excellent map-making capabilities and unmatched location data quality, together with UNL’s advanced micro-location technology, is a powerful combination, providing businesses with the tools they need to thrive in an environment where precision, efficiency, and customer-centricity are essential to staying ahead,” added Xander.
Hazel Chen, regional head of group business development and partnerships at Grab, also remarked, “We are excited to support UNL Global in offering more accurate location data to help drive the growth of businesses and developers in Southeast Asia.”
“GrabMaps’ extensive and highly granular data from across the region can help UNL’s customers improve operational efficiencies and unlock growth opportunities. UNL Global’s own micro-location technology, combined with our capabilities and insights, will enable UNL Global to offer more tailored solutions for their customers’ fast-changing needs,” she concluded.
UNL offers game engine solutions, creating digital twins of places to solve major challenges for on-demand businesses in emerging markets. These challenges include inconsistent addressing, limited last-mile data, reliance on conventional road networks, and complex routing issues beyond street-level navigation, such as indoor spaces, venues, and elevation.
Meanwhile, GrabMaps harnesses data from Grab’s extensive network of consumers, merchants, and driver and delivery partners, dynamically updating its maps each day with insights from millions of completed trips and deliveries, including real-time reports on road changes, business relocations, and more.
