Singapore – Pomelo Group, a Singapore-based payment infrastructure firm, has recently announced the acquisition of fintech payment company Arrow Checkout.
This strategic move brings advanced payment expertise and technology solutions to the company, strengthening its overall capacity.
Following the acquisition, the founders of Arrow have joined the Pomelo team in Singapore. Neo Liat Beng has also taken on the role of chief product officer at Pomelo, overseeing product development.
Sebastian Roervig has further been appointed VP of Sales and Business Development, tasked with driving adoption of the Pomelo platform in Asia’s emerging markets.
Meanwhile, Sudhan Raj joins Pomelo’s engineering team, contributing to the company’s ongoing technological advancements.
“We’re excited to bring our technology and payment expertise to the Pomelo team and join forces to build the leading payments infrastructure platform for emerging markets,” commented Neo, co-founder and CEO at Arrow.
Endre Sagi, executive chairman at Pomelo, also stated, “This acquisition is particularly attractive because of the exceptional talent and payment industry knowledge the Arrow Checkout team brings to Pomelo.”
“The fact that the incoming team members are already familiar with our management and share a great cultural fit significantly enhances our ability to integrate and collaborate effectively. We believe this combination strengthens the Pomelo platform’s position and accelerates our growth prospects,” shared Sagi.
Steve Vickers, CEO at Pomelo Group, then remarked, “One of the hardest things for any early-stage company to achieve is recruitment of strong talent to boost the team’s capabilities. I worked with both Neo and Seb at Grab and know the skills and drive these individuals possess. I am delighted to be able to renew our professional partnership as we look to propel Pomelo to greater achievements across the coming years.”
Established in 2021 by payments experts from Grab and Tencent, Arrow was backed by Y Combinator and secured funding from Peak XV, Alpha JWC, Meta, and angel investors associated with leading firms such as Checkout.com, Coinbase, Grab, and VISA.
