Singapore – Netskope, a computer and network security firm, has recently announced that it has partnered with the Google Workspace security alliance, aiming to bolster the security and enhance data protection for Workspace users.
This strategic partnership will empower organisations to embrace modern collaboration and productivity by enabling the secure use of AI-based productivity tools.
In particular, the company will provide advanced data loss prevention (DLP) techniques, delivering real-time visibility and control over users, data, and corporate vs. personal cloud instances.
Furthermore, the Netskope One Platform offers advanced security features designed to safeguard data, mitigate threats, and deliver fast, secure access to Google Workspace productivity and collaboration tools, which include Gemini for Workspace.
This comprehensive threat protection through both API and inline controls can detect threats in Google applications and monitor data movement and threat propagation between Google Workspace apps and third-party ecosystem applications.
In addition to the initiative’s benefits, joint customers can now more effectively support best practice use of Gemini for Google Workspace by utilising real-time user coaching to help enforce best practices in application usage.
They can further protect their sensitive data by detecting and managing access to sensitive data within Google Workspace applications and enforcing policies to prevent unauthorised data movement across platforms, including third-party services like Microsoft OneDrive, Box, and Dropbox.
Another advantage also includes the prevention of downloading sensitive data from Google Workspace business instances and then uploading it to personal instances, which is one of today’s top reasons for data loss.
The said partnership also enables them to protect against malware and phishing delivered from the cloud. Netskope’s multi-layered advanced threat protection (ATP) enhances security within Google Workspace and across cloud applications.
Lastly, it also ensures that organisations can adhere to regulations and meet compliance needs by enforcing security policies within Google Workspace.
Andy Horwitz, vice president, global partner ecosystems at Netskope, commented about this initiative, stating, “Netskope is proud to expand its partnership with Google Workspace by joining the Workspace Security Alliance. There are already thousands of customers using Netskope to safeguard their Google Workspace applications, and this new partnership further enhances the secure usage capabilities for application-specific data protection policies.”
“Together, Netskope and Google Workspace can help customers modernise their productivity stack. We look forward to helping customers safely optimise their employees’ daily productivity,” added Andy.
Nikhil Sinha, group product manager at Google Workspace, also shared, “By partnering with Netskope, a leading SASE vendor, customers can confidently expand their Google Workspace adoption leveraging their existing IT infrastructure investments.”
“Netskope instance awareness enables fine-grained data governance policy differences for both corporate and personal Google Workspace accounts. We are excited to partner with Netskope to provide these advanced security capabilities to our customers,” Nikhil concluded.
