Singapore – Mimecast, a cybersecurity company, has recently announced the appointment of Barry Chen as the new regional sales leader of business development strategist for ASEAN.

Chen boasts more than 15 years of experience in sales and business development, with extensive expertise in accelerating revenue growth and expanding market reach across Asia.

He is known for his strategic approach, where he has consistently driven new business, built high-performing teams, and fostered strong partnerships with telecom operators, enterprises, and government clients.

Before joining Mimecast, he became the regional sales director for ASEAN at Recorded Future. During his tenure, he was able to rebuild and lead a team across ASEAN and Taiwan, achieving remarkable pipeline growth and consistently exceeding sales goals.

According to the company, these attributes, alongside his expertise in strategic sales leadership and market expansion, will be instrumental in driving new business opportunities, especially at Mimecast.

Talking about his appointment, Chen said, “I am excited to join Mimecast at such a pivotal time of expansion. Human risk management is mission-critical in today’s evolving technological landscape, and I’m energised to join Mimecast in their mission of helping customers stay ahead of threats.”

“Strong relationships are at the core of my approach; I look forward to developing strategic sales initiatives and methodology to drive business growth across the ASEAN market,” he added.

David Sajoto, VP and GM of APJ at Mimecast, also said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Barry to the team. Barry is a leader who understands the importance of strengthening relationships to enhance customer engagement and build a trusted team, which will be invaluable as we drive impactful growth and secure more organisations in the region.”

With a strong academic foundation, Chen holds a master’s in telecommunication engineering from the National Technology University and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Houston, Texas.

He is also fluent in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Indonesia, with intermediate proficiency in Thai. These multilingual skills enabled him to engage seamlessly across different markets.
