Petaling Jaya, Malaysia – A recent announcement from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said that the company has recently joined forces with cross-border service provider HYT to support the nation’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
As part of the partnership, the two signed a memorandum of understanding allowing HYT to assist potential Malaysian companies in magnifying their export journey to China, Thailand, and Singapore. This move is designed to advance the cross-border journey and market expansion efforts in the country.
Furthermore, it will also enable both parties to collaborate further with MSMEs, helping them engage in cross-border e-commerce activities in those markets.
From Matrade’s end, on the other hand, the agreement is part of the government’s efforts in providing advanced support for MSMEs to expand their businesses through cross-border e-commerce.
Said strategy further allows them to empower qualified merchants with the onboarding of international e-commerce platforms, thereby increasing the participation of MSMEs in the digital marketing and training under their programs.
Datuk Danny Tan, managing director at HYT, said, “Demand for Malaysian goods has been growing at a rapid pace, with a year-on-year increase of overall export trade. Our finished goods, raw materials, and ingredients, specifically those that have been halal-certified, have directly contributed to this.”
“We believe in this potential and want to support all Malaysian MSMEs who want to start their cross-border journey and connect with new audiences outside of Malaysia,” he further shared.
Datuk Hazimah Zainuddin, senior board member at MATRADE, also commented, “As the e-commerce revenue growing throughout the year, it is a clear indicator of the robust growth of cross-border e-commerce in Malaysia, and with a strategic partner like HYT, our Malaysian companies are poised to reach a broader global customer base with e-commerce and expand their global footprint efficiently,” she added.
