Singapore – Nham24, a food delivery and e-commerce platform, has recently unveiled that Singapore-based superapp Grab has completed the acquisition of its operations in the country, with the deal being approved by the Competition Commission of Cambodia.
In the statement, the companies shared that the deal would combine both their local expertise and the superapp’s tech capabilities, which include a merchant portal for day-to-day sales management, ad tools, and other AI-powered solutions.
This strategic approach is aimed at harnessing innovation in the country to further benefit both local consumers and everyday business owners.
Moreover, the partnership is designed to foster sustainable, long-term growth for on-demand services such as food delivery, grocery delivery, and ride-hailing in Cambodia, giving more opportunities for everyday entrepreneurs.
The higher concentration of orders from the partnership will also benefit driver- and delivery partners with increased earning opportunities, including access to jobs across delivery and ride-hailing services.
Grab will further employ its advanced map technology and data science capabilities to help driver-and delivery partners provide more productivity and boost their earnings.
On the other hand, enhanced order batching will enable riders to pick up multiple deliveries at once, leading to more budget-friendly solutions for
Ultimately, said companies have committed to ensuring a smooth transition, allowing both Grab and Nham24 apps to continue operating independently for the time being.
Users can also place orders as usual on both platforms, while merchants and drivers will continue receiving and processing orders without any changes.
Sovannarot Kang (Mike), country head of Cambodia, said, “Grab is excited to deepen our investment into Cambodia and is eager to play a greater role in supporting digital economy growth and sustainable livelihoods for Cambodians. This partnership is forged on shared values. We deeply respect all that Nham24 has achieved and are committed to preserving and building on the high-quality standards they are loved for.”
“Grab’s advantage as a regional superapp is our ability to invest in tech and innovation at scale. We intend to harness those abilities to bring greater affordability and convenience to users, higher productivity for drivers, and more inclusive growth for small businesses,” he further shared.
Meanwhile, Borima Chann, CEO and founder at Nham24, stated, “This is an immensely significant milestone for a locally born startup like Nham24, and I’m glad we found a partner with whom we share the same, unwavering commitment to delivering solutions that enrich the lives of every community we serve.”
He then continued, “We’ve always believed our success stemmed from serving the needs of Cambodians through innovation and exceptional service, and the merger will give us the ability to draw on Grab’s strengths in tech and deep R&D capabilities to take this to new heights.”
“I am so thankful to our entire Nham24 team, our delivery and merchant partners, and our loyal users for their support throughout the years. Together with Grab, we look forward to bringing you better and better experiences,” concluded Chann.
