Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – IT services and consulting firm Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNeX) and Google Cloud have recently unveiled a multi-year agreement to offer sovereign cloud services in Malaysia.

In a joint statement, the companies stated that the move is designed to address the demand for cloud solutions that meet strict data residency, security, and privacy requirements within regulated industries such as public services, financial services, healthcare, and energy.

The partnership, in particular, gives DNeX the authority to operate Google Distributed Cloud, which offers “air-gapped” solutions for Malaysian organisations. This means it can operate without connection to the Internet or a Google Cloud region.

Meanwhile, the firms did not specify a value or timeframe for the agreement.

Apart from these initiatives, DNeX and Google Cloud also revealed they are looking into the development of a hub for nurturing local talent in artificial intelligence.

Karan Bajwa, vice president at Google Cloud Asia Pacific, said, “Google Cloud and DNeX will empower organisations with the state-of-the-art distributed cloud infrastructure, developer tools, and AI services they need to drive digital transformation on their own terms.”
