Cambodia – The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, and Alibaba Cloud Singapore have recently announced a joint collaboration designed to develop an e-commerce platform, alongside enhancing digital literacy and marketing abilities.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications will enhance support for the trade sector by organising training programs for local entrepreneurs to facilitate the effective use of digital trade platforms.
Said move will further enhance the cooperation between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Commerce on logistics and transport management through the use of the SuperApp joint digital platform. This ensures efficient and transparent domestic and international transport.
Meanwhile, the alliance with Alibaba Cloud will enable Cambodian products to tap into digital markets, offering significant business opportunities for local entrepreneurs. This approach will be done by connecting them directly to millions of potential customers, helping them grow their operations and overcome market access challenges.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Phnom Penh, with Chea Vandet, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Cambodia; Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce; and Allen Zhang, vice president of Alibaba Cloud Singapore, officiating the event.
The partnership targets key areas of collaboration, including the (1) establishment of an e-commerce platform, (2) providing training and capacity-building opportunities in trade, business, and digital marketing, as well as (3) strengthening infrastructure and logistics to enhance the efficiency of domestic trade and facilitate Cambodia’s connection to global markets.
