Malaysia – AI technologies and digital platform startup Axrail has recently announced the inauguration of its generative AI lab in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. With this launch, the lab introduces its edge and cloud solutions to support the increasing demand for AI solutions and the country’s digital economy aspirations.

The Gen AI Lab integrates the expertise of AWS, Phison, and Axrail in a collaborative hub. Highlighting advanced cloud solutions powered by AWS, leveraging Amazon Bedrock, alongside on-premises innovations utilising Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ technology.

It also caters to businesses seeking a scalable avenue to AI adoption, solidifying the company’s leadership in providing comprehensive generative AI solutions for both cloud and on-premises environments.

The lab is located in Axrail’s 3,000-square-foot Centre of Excellence (CoE) for AI solutions and facilitates responsible experimentation and the co-creation of generative AI applications. It is further designed to expedite enterprises’ AI preparedness by enabling them to cultivate the capacity to derive value from data and enhance operational efficiency across diverse functions.

Kelvin Kok, founder and chief executive officer at Axrail, said, “We are thrilled to launch our Gen AI Lab in collaboration with Phison and our preferred cloud partner AWS. This innovative sandbox will empower businesses to reimagine operations through AI, delivering measurable outcomes and futureproofing their approach.”

“Our goal is to accelerate AI adoption, especially among Malaysian SMEs, leveraging the upcoming AWS Region in Malaysia for data residency, low latency, and robust cloud services across Southeast Asia,” explained Kelvin.

Peter Murray, country manager at AWS Malaysia, also said, “Axrail’s new Gen AI lab on AWS offers business solutions that boost productivity and efficiency for industries like retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and entertainment for SME customers of all sizes. Partners like Axrail can help customers make the most of the opportunities advanced technologies like Gen AI can offer business owners.

“In addition, this is another positive example of the growth of Malaysia’s digital economy and ambition to become a regional tech hub for ASEAN, which AWS is proud to play our part in supporting,” Peter added.

Also speaking about the initiative, K.S. Pua, chief executive officer at Phison Electronics, said, “Through Phison’s exclusive aiDAPTIV+ solution, we not only achieve the democratisation of AI and expand AI applications but also make generative AI accessible and beneficial to everyone.”

“Together with Axrail, we will accelerate Malaysia’s AI digital transformation while providing the added assurance of data confidentiality. In the future, Phison will continue to work hand in hand with Axrail to expand cooperation in storage and AI applications,” he concluded.
