Singapore – Digital technology and intelligence firm Alibaba Cloud has recently unveiled its plan to establish the company’s initial cloud region in Mexico. This further includes expanding its footprint in key markets such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and South Korea by developing additional data centres in the next three years.
For this investment, the company is set to build new cloud and AI infrastructure in key international markets, with the goal of enhancing the cloud and AI product suite for its worldwide customers. This strategic move also aims to enhance global partnerships and foster AI talent development to nurture future digital expertise.
Along with this initiative, they will also launch Alibaba Cloud’s premier generative AI development platform, Model Studio. The said studio will offer customers access to Alibaba Cloud’s extensive language model Qwen family, which includes closed-source and open-source models and is designed to aid in the development of custom generative AI applications. This will soon be available for international customers via its availability zones in Singapore.
Additional model finetuning and inferencing tools and services will be available in the second half of the year to foster the creation of more sophisticated AI tasks with greater cost-efficiency.
Meanwhile, the company also announced enhanced partnerships aimed at elevating their customer experience. Among these partnerships is its extended collaboration with SAP to launch a one-stop enterprise solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Asia.
This integrated cloud-based business management solution will provide SMEs in Asia with a powerful, scalable enterprise resource planning system on the cloud without the need for substantial initial investment in IT infrastructure. .
Alibaba Cloud also announced a new alliance with Europe’s corporate training provider Demos Group, bringing together a suite of Alibaba Cloud online courses that will focus on cloud computing, data analytics, and AI. This collaboration aims to enhance the digital competencies of Demos’ corporate clients’ workforce.
It will also be teaming up with OxValue.AI to broaden the suite of Alibaba Cloud capabilities provided to end customers, including AI-driven valuation services.
Furthermore, they have also initiated collaborations with several international universities, such as the University of Reading, Singapore University of Social Sciences, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Arovy University, and University Saint Thomas Mozambique, to introduce cloud computing and AI courses with the aim of cultivating a new generation of AI experts.
With its trusted cloud computing and AI capabilities, the company has also been chosen by a growing base of international customers, including LVMH Group, Fathom, and the International Canoe Federation (ICF).
Speaking about this endeavour, Selina Yuan, president of international business at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said, “With the rapidly rising demand for AI across industries, we are reinforcing our commitment to expanding our AI infrastructure and enhancing our cloud capacities worldwide. Meanwhile, our digital talent initiatives, in collaboration with global universities and local partners in our key markets, will further equip the upcoming generation with the requisite AI skills.”
