Hangzhou, China – Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence division of Alibaba Group, has announced a major international expansion of its cloud infrastructure to support the growing demand for AI innovation.

The company plans to launch its first data centres in Brazil, France, and the Netherlands, with further facilities scheduled in Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Dubai over the coming year.

In addition, new regional service centres will be set up in Indonesia and Germany to provide continuous, multi-language customer support.

To strengthen the global AI ecosystem, Alibaba Cloud has introduced the AI Catalyst Programme. This initiative will provide selected AI companies with access to industry expertise, advanced tools, and go-to-market resources.

Dr Feifei Li, president of international business and SVP of Alibaba Cloud intelligence group, explained that AI is revolutionising the way enterprises deliver business value and drive growth.

“Our strategic expansion of global infrastructure is designed to cater for the accelerating demand from forward-thinking customers,” Feifei commented.

“We are here to help partners and customers to design, launch, and scale groundbreaking AI agents and applications, fueling the next generation of digital innovation and unlocking unprecedented value in the global market.”

Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure and AI technologies are being deployed across multiple industries, including sports, automotive, pharmaceuticals, beauty, retail, and marketing. For example, AstraZeneca China has worked with Alibaba Cloud to develop a proprietary medical model that accelerates the identification of adverse drug events, improving efficiency by 300%, compared to human analysis.

Xin Zhong, head of commercial IT at AstraZeneca China, commented on how the company has greatly benefited from accessing Alibaba Cloud’s resources.

“Qwen LLM and Model Studio have vastly improved the efficiency of generating adverse event reports from huge amounts of medical literature,” Xin stated.

He added, “We expect to explore more AI-based innovations with Alibaba Cloud.”

Shiseido is enhancing its cybersecurity resilience in China using Alibaba Cloud’s Cloud Threat Detection and Response platform and Managed Detection and Response service. Meanwhile, Japanese digital marketing firm GladCube is using Alibaba Cloud’s generative AI models to power video transformation platforms and AI avatar services.

“We have long pursued the dual goals of creative excellence and operational efficiency in content development by harnessing generative AI,” Hiroki Kaneshima, president & CEO of GladCube, stated.

“Our partnership with Alibaba Cloud represents a major leap forward, and we are confident it will revolutionise creative content production and reshape the future of digital marketing in Japan.”

The company has also advanced its Platform for AI (PAI) through integration with NVIDIA’s Physical AI software stack, providing a cloud-native platform for developers to accelerate progress in humanoid robotics and Physical AI applications.

Through these initiatives, Alibaba Cloud is expanding its international presence and providing enterprises and developers with advanced tools and cloud infrastructure to accelerate AI innovation worldwide.
