Salmon taps LenderLink to encourage responsible lending in the Philippines using real-time credit data

Manila, Philippines – Salmon Group, a financial technology company operating in the Philippines, has expanded its approach to responsible lending through a partnership with LenderLink, a real-time credit data exchange platform.

The collaboration highlights the growing role of live, consent-based credit data in supporting sound risk management and fair access to finance.

The integration is among the early examples of a Philippines-based fintech incorporating consumer credit information into a secure, shared credit infrastructure.

By participating in a real-time data exchange, the initiative establishes a reference point for how lenders can jointly address challenges such as over-borrowing while widening the availability of appropriately priced credit products.

“Partnering with LenderLink strengthens our commitment to responsible lending. Access to verified, real-time credit data allows us to better assess credit applications and manage risk more effectively,” Raffy Montemayor, co-founder of Salmon, shared.

He added, “Ultimately, this partnership helps us provide credit to more underserved and underbanked Filipinos – while ensuring their data remain protected at all times.”

Through access to up-to-date credit information provided by LenderLink, Salmon is seeking to strengthen lending decisions during periods of heightened consumer spending, with the aim of supporting more sustainable borrowing behaviour and lowering the likelihood of repayment difficulties.

The technical integration was completed within four weeks, supported by LenderLink’s API-led framework and an implementation process designed to reduce operational complexity for product, engineering and risk teams.

“Salmon’s integration reflects the momentum we’re seeing across the industry,” Christo Georgiev, co-founder and CEO of LenderLink, stated.

“When lenders collaborate through secure, consent-based data sharing, they reduce defaults, strengthen compliance and build a healthier financial ecosystem for millions of Filipinos.”

LenderLink operates under an open finance model and applies established security and governance standards for data protection, including encryption, access management and strict consent controls.

In July 2025, the platform achieved ISO 27001 certification, reflecting compliance with international information security management requirements. These measures align with regulatory priorities around consumer protection and broader efforts to address harmful lending practices within the market.

Salmon has joined a network of 15 lenders and financial institutions connected to LenderLink, contributing to a shared database of more than 36 million borrower records. Since its launch, the platform has facilitated over one million credit data exchanges.

With further financial institutions currently progressing through integration, LenderLink’s development roadmap is reported to be largely committed through the end of 2025.
