Indonesia — Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat/IOH) has introduced an AI-powered Semantic Search feature in its myIM3 and bima+ applications, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud. The feature is designed to provide more relevant, personalised, and efficient search results, making it easier for customers to find products and services.
The capability is made possible by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, which analyses customer behaviour and preferences to tailor search results for services such as data packages, lifestyle features, and loyalty programs like IMPoin and BonsTri.
It also leverages Sahabat-AI, an open-source large language model built for the Indonesian language, enabling better understanding of local contexts and regional dialects.
Bilal Kazmi, director & chief commercial officer at Indonsat Ooredoo Hutchison mentioned how the Google Cloud platform enables the company to deliver a search system that is intelligent and enhances user convenience, increasing business performance.
“This collaboration represents a strategic step towards providing smarter, more personalised, and relevant digital experiences for our customers,” Bilal said.
Fanly Tanto, country director, Indonesia, at Google Cloud said that Indonsat has been at the forefront of innovating advanced, enterprise AI. He further explained how Vertex AI Search’s built in understanding of Bahasa and English, finding the semantic meaning behind queries, and spelling variations allows search queries that adapt to the diverse lifestyle of myIM3 and bima+ users.
“This deployment demonstrates how the unique combination of Google Cloud’s open platforms and Google-quality search can be seamlessly integrated with an enterprise’s custom-built AI models and existing applications, enabling smarter and more personalised digital experiences for its customers,” Fanly said.
The initiative highlights Indosat’s efforts to enhance customer experience with AI-driven personalisation while also promoting digital engagement.
