Singapore – Oracle, a cloud technology firm, has recently launched the redesigned version of its Xstore point of service application with advanced features to streamline retail operations and enhance customer interactions.

For this version, the platform has established a new architecture powered by Oracle Cloud and Infrastructure and Oracle Autonomous Database. Said capability equips retailers with advanced security and performance, as well as cost-efficient deployment and updates.

With this, shop assistants can now have immediate access to customer purchase histories and worklists through the new system’s dashboards. This development further streamlines the process of completing complex orders like Buy Online, Pick Up In Store’ (BOPIS) requests.

Xstore’s architecture further supports deployment across various models, including public cloud, multicloud, on-premises, and OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure. Additionally, it offers mobility on iOS and Android tablets as well as desktops.

According to the firm, the platform’s recent updates align with the increasing demands on retail staff driven by the evolving complexity of customer journeys. The dashboards display transaction histories, potential offers, and rewards, empowering them to personalise interactions and manage transactions with ease and minimal training.

Meanwhile, associates can also access inventory across all channels, ensuring smooth merchandise movement and meeting customer demands by enabling items to be shipped or picked up from different locations.

The updated Xstore system further supports store managers by offering a detailed view of order fulfilment, ensuring timely deliveries, and boosting customer satisfaction.

Paul Woodward, vice president of retail products at Oracle, said, “Point of Service systems are at the epicentre of in-store operations, and Oracle just made Xstore, one of the world’s most used and trusted retail POS platforms, even more functional and effective from its architecture through to its intuitive workflows.”

“Now, retailers have the agility and security to support evolving customer journeys, move inventory from anywhere, and adhere to regional requirements while delivering great experiences to both their customers and staff,” added Woodward.

By using OCI and OCI Container Instances, the updated model enhances security and performance, allowing quick deployments and updates without server oversight.

For retailers in areas with unstable Wi-Fi, OCI Roving Edge Infrastructure ensures seamless cloud services in remote or demanding environments. Xstore’s global presence spans 95 countries, offering translations in 13 languages, multi-currency support, and localisation features to meet regional compliance needs.
