Singapore – Multinational technology corporation International Business Machines (IBM) has recently introduced Hans Dekkers as the new general manager of IBM Asia Pacific. Dekkers assumes the role previously held by Paul Burton, which takes effect immediately.

In this new role, Dekkers will be assigned to manage the strategic and operational responsibilities in the company in terms of sales, marketing, services, technology, and delivery operations across a broad region. This involves Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Korea, India, South Asia, and the Greater China region, including Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Dekker’s previous role also included serving as the general manager for North, Central, and Eastern Europe, where he operated from Copenhagen, Denmark. His tenure with IBM also included significant roles in key locations within the Asia Pacific region, which includes China, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and India.

Moreover, his experience involving Indonesia, South Korea, and the broader ASEAN region allowed him to gain valuable insights into the Asia-Pacific market.

In line with the recent appointment, Dekkers shared, “I am delighted to be back working with such a talented team in a place I consider my second home. This is a critical time for companies and organisations across this dynamic region as they move at pace to transform, adopt new technologies, and explore new business models.”

“IBM has an exciting opportunity to help define their future through our people, ecosystem partners, and capabilities in hybrid cloud and AI as clients accelerate their critical transformation journeys,” he further explained.

Dekker is poised to drive IBM’s growth strategy in the region, focusing primarily on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence. This move builds on his extensive industry expertise, which is considered a significant asset for the company in its mission to assist clients in their transformation journeys.
