Kawasaki, Japan – Fujitsu is evolving its Uvance business model to focus more heavily on AI Transformation (AX), with plans to combine consulting, AI applications, agents and infrastructure to help organisations address business and operational challenges.

Launched in October 2021, Uvance was established around offerings designed to address societal challenges and co-create solutions with customers and partners. Fujitsu said the model will now place greater emphasis on customers’ industry-specific knowledge and experience as a source of competitive advantage in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.

The company also plans to move towards an industry-specific AX delivery model, applying insights and outcomes from individual sectors to support new cross-industry applications and address wider societal challenges.

Integrated AI Transformation approach

Fujitsu will structure its Uvance offering across three layers: consulting and Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), applications and AI agents, and AI platforms.

The company said the layers will be linked continuously, using customers’ specific business contexts to support AX initiatives and ongoing value creation.

Consulting teams and FDEs will work with customers from identifying management and operational challenges through to implementing AI solutions and measuring results. The approach is intended to connect AI deployments more closely with business outcomes.

At the application and AI agent layer, Fujitsu is developing a data and AI platform designed to capture customers’ industry and enterprise-specific knowledge and experience as context for AI-driven decision-making and business execution.

The platform is scheduled for release in March 2027. Fujitsu said it will also support the continuous development of AI agents by turning customer-specific context into knowledge assets AI can use.

The platform will combine Fujitsu technologies, including Fujitsu Kozuchi and the Takane enterprise generative AI system, with frontier AI models. Fujitsu said the approach will allow organisations to use AI environments suited to their individual business requirements.

For workloads involving sensitive data and intellectual property, Fujitsu also plans to support sovereign cloud environments designed to maintain data and operational sovereignty.

Industry-specific AX delivery

Fujitsu said organisations often hold important business knowledge in dispersed forms, including tacit knowledge, frontline decision-making criteria, industry practices and production know-how.

The company plans to systematise these forms of knowledge through its business systems and turn them into assets AI can use.

This represents a shift in Uvance from offerings primarily structured around societal issues towards an AX delivery model centred on industry context.

Under the new approach, Fujitsu aims to apply industry-specific processes, knowledge and decision-making criteria to customers’ management and operational challenges. It also plans to use insights generated in one industry to identify opportunities for value creation across sectors.

Uvance targets AI-driven growth

Fujitsu expects AX to become a key growth driver for Uvance and is targeting more than JPY 1.7 trillion in Uvance revenue by fiscal 2030.

The company is also targeting an average annual growth rate of more than 20% for Uvance, with the business expected to account for more than half of Fujitsu’s service solutions revenue by fiscal 2030.

As part of the business model evolution, Fujitsu plans to introduce outcome-based and usage-based pricing models. The company said the change is intended to strengthen its revenue base alongside increasing sales volume.

The shift positions Uvance around using AI to transform business operations and create new value, while retaining a focus on customers’ industry-specific knowledge and the broader societal challenges Fujitsu aims to address.
