CoreWeave makes Asia-Pacific debut with Indonesia data centre expansion

Jakarta, Indonesia – CoreWeave is expanding its AI cloud platform into Indonesia with three new facilities totaling 360 megawatts of contracted IT power, marking the company’s first data centre presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The US-based cloud provider said on August 4 that the facilities are expected to come online in 2028. CoreWeave will own and operate the compute environments across all three sites, with the expansion intended to support AI labs, startups, enterprises and government customers deploying workloads across Southeast Asia.

The company said demand for AI cloud services is growing beyond its existing markets in the US and Europe, with organisations across Asia increasingly seeking compute capacity closer to their data and users. CoreWeave cited latency-sensitive workloads and data locality requirements as factors driving demand for local AI infrastructure.

“CoreWeave goes where we can bring AI pioneers the capacity, performance, and reliability they need to build and scale their ideas,” said Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer, CoreWeave. “Indonesia is investing heavily in AI education and digital capacity, and it’s paying off – the country is becoming one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing destinations for global tech investment. Now, this expansion gives enterprises, AI-native companies and governments more compute locally and globally, wherever they need it, to turn that into a competitive advantage.”

The expansion is also positioned as supporting Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, develop domestic AI capabilities and establish itself as a regional digital economy.

Alongside the infrastructure buildout, CoreWeave plans to develop an Indonesia-based team to operate the new facilities. The company said the initiative will include training local technical talent as part of its expansion into the country.

The Indonesia investment extends CoreWeave’s global infrastructure buildout into Southeast Asia and represents its initial entry into the Asia-Pacific market.
