Bangkok, Thailand – Google Cloud has launched a new cloud region in Thailand, strengthening the country’s access to AI-enabled cloud infrastructure and extending Google Cloud’s regional presence in Southeast Asia.
The Bangkok-based region is intended to support organisations seeking to deploy AI at scale, while addressing local requirements around data residency, security and regulatory compliance.
The local region provides Thai enterprises and public sector bodies with in-country access to Google Cloud’s AI-optimised infrastructure and globally available AI services, including the Gemini model portfolio and the Vertex AI platform.
By allowing data to be stored and processed within Thailand, the region enables organisations in regulated sectors to adopt AI-driven workloads while remaining aligned with national data protection and governance frameworks.
“Our new Thailand cloud region brings the same world-class infrastructure that powers Google’s global services directly to Thai enterprises, startups, and public sector institutions,” Karthik Narain, chief product and business officer, Google Cloud, commented.
“With access to Google Cloud’s leading cloud and AI technologies, we’re giving Thai organisations a foundation for growth in the AI era, allowing them to innovate faster with greater control over their data.”
Google Cloud has positioned the new region as a gateway to its wider AI ecosystem, combining low-latency local performance with connectivity to its international cloud network.
This enables organisations to build and operate AI applications locally while also drawing on global AI capabilities for advanced analytics, automation and agent-based systems. The approach is intended to support both incremental AI adoption and more complex, enterprise-wide AI strategies.
In parallel, Google Cloud continues to advance programmes aimed at accelerating AI use across key sectors of the Thai economy. The PanyaThAI initiative focuses on helping organisations translate AI investment into measurable business outcomes, while training efforts such as ChaiyoGCP emphasise practical, hands-on experience with AI and data tools.
Siam Piwat Group and Xponential have accelerated their AI transformation journey through the programme following the implementation of enterprise-grade and agent-based AI solutions. Programmes such as PanyaThAI are designed to reduce barriers to adoption by combining infrastructure, platforms and implementation guidance.
Skills development remains a central element of Google Cloud’s AI strategy in Thailand. Through expanded access to AI-focused training and learning platforms, including Google Skills, organisations and individuals are being supported in developing the capabilities required to design, deploy and manage AI solutions.
Together with the new cloud region, these initiatives are intended to strengthen Thailand’s readiness for broader AI adoption across both the public and private sectors.
