Singapore – Sea Limited, a Singapore-based tech firm, has recently announced its plans to collaborate with OpenAI through its e-commerce subsidiary Shopee, with the goal of enhancing the online shopping experience for customers.

In its latest statement, the company said that the collaboration will explore the capability of AI agents like Operator in improving online shopping by making it more user-friendly, personalised, and efficient. They also shared that the Operator is currently in its early research phase, enabling them to gather user feedback to enhance its capabilities.

Meanwhile, the hands-on experience and user insights will help inform Shopee’s approach to using AI to enhance shopping experiences.

“With AI rapidly reshaping how people interact with technology, we are excited for Shopee to be collaborating with OpenAI as a launch partner for Operator in Southeast Asia and Brazil. Operator is an AI agent capable of autonomously interacting with the internet to perform various tasks, including shopping on e-commerce platforms like Shopee,” said Sea in its statement.

By forging partnerships with industry leaders like OpenAI, Sea also said these initiatives help them stay ahead in the fast-changing AI landscape. Through this commitment to AI-powered innovation, the company also indicated their goal to empower communities in the industry and market they serve.

“By embracing AI-driven innovation, Sea is committed to empowering communities in Southeast Asia, Brazil, and beyond – helping individuals and small businesses unlock their full potential in the digital economy,” added Sea.

“Technology is transforming the way we live, work, and play. At Sea, we are committed to harnessing innovation to create opportunities, drive growth, and empower the communities we serve. As a leading global consumer internet company founded in Singapore, our mission has always been to better the lives of consumers and small businesses with technology – making digital services more accessible, inclusive, and impactful,” the company concluded.
