Hong Kong – Prudential Hong Kong has entered into a formal partnership with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company through an MoU designed to support the development and application of AI in the city.
The agreement aims to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a regional centre for technology-driven innovation. Both organisations will work together to enhance Prudential’s AI Centre of Excellence, which operates within the Insurance Authority’s AI Cohort Programme.
The collaboration is intended to encourage the exchange of expertise across different industries, develop specialist skills, and utilise Cyberport’s digital community and the processing capabilities of its AI Supercomputing Centre to identify potential AI-based solutions.
The MoU is expected to contribute to an environment that promotes technological progress and long-term growth within the insurance sector.
“AI will help reshape how we work, from enhancing agency productivity and customer engagement to improving operational efficiency and smarter decision-making,” Lawrence Lam, chief executive officer of Prudential Hong Kong, stated.
He added, “Together with Cyberport, we will harness technology to create a better future for our clients and the wider community.”
Through the agreement, Prudential and Cyberport will also organise AI-related challenges and competitions to support new technological development, and will explore collaborative training programmes to help build skills and raise standards in the industry.
“Leveraging Hong Kong’s largest FinTech cluster of more than 400 companies at Cyberport, we continue to connect insurers with innovators to drive practical AI applications in insurance management,” Eric Chan, chief public mission officer of Cyberport, commented.
He added, “Together, we are further strengthening Hong Kong’s position as an international financial and FinTech centre.”
Through this cooperation, Prudential and Cyberport intend to expand the use of AI within insurance operations, encourage wider industry participation, and contribute to the broader advancement of Hong Kong’s innovation landscape.
