Australia – MongoDB has announced the inauguration of its new office in Sydney, with the goal of driving growth in engineering, support, and go-to-market operations. This strategic expansion is part of the company’s broader investment in its research and development teams in Australia.
As a new hub, the office is designed to support the company’s flexible working model, with the space allowing employees to collaborate seamlessly. It also features multi-use spaces that can accommodate events, fostering both teamwork and community engagement.
As per the firm, it has experienced significant growth in Australia and New Zealand, expanding its workforce to 220 people. The region also became a key part of its Asia Pacific operations, which have reached more than US$220m in annual revenue.
Across ANZ, over 160 technical experts, including developers, specialists, managers, and engineers, are also actively involved in driving MongoDB’s most forward-thinking projects.
Simon Eid, senior vice president APAC at MongoDB, commented, “Legacy technology is holding back global innovation, which is why we are on a mission to eliminate roadblocks to groundbreaking technology like AI by bringing simplicity, speed, and ease to the modernisation process for Australia’s leading companies.”
“Local pilot projects and the fantastic AI tooling built by our Australian team are part of the template that is being rolled out globally,” continued Eid.
“I’m so excited about the increased investment we’re making in Australia. We’ve now got great new facilities to support MongoDB’s growing world-class teams across engineering, services, support, and go-to-market functions. MongoDB’s modern, document-based architecture offers the scalability and agility businesses need to unlock AI’s full potential and to lead Australia’s next wave of innovation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mick Graham, Vice President of Engineering at MongoDB, also stated, “Databases are the backbone of modern applications—managing, storing, and protecting massive volumes and varieties of data. But it’s a giant technical challenge to do that at scale while offering the great developer experience MongoDB is famous for.”
“The outstanding technical talent we’ve been able to find and develop in Australia has been absolutely crucial to the company’s success and continued growth. Working on foundational technology like databases is an incredibly exciting area of development at this moment in world history. It’s so gratifying to see how the teams’ work is impacting thousands of customers across the world and, particularly, here in Australia,” concluded Graham.
MongoDB officially opened its new Sydney office at 201 Elizabeth Street on February 12.
The platform’s presence in the region continues to grow, with more than 70,000 developers across Australia and New Zealand showcasing MongoDB as a skill on LinkedIn.
