New York – Airwallex has appointed Carolyn Renzin as Chief Regulatory and Compliance Officer, a move that reflects the company’s continued international expansion and increasing focus on governance frameworks.
Based in New York, she will oversee the organisation’s regulatory and compliance operations globally as it extends its financial infrastructure across the United States, Europe, Latin America and other strategic markets.
The appointment coincides with the company’s efforts to advance its regulated product offerings, including the introduction of Airwallex Yield through its registered broker-dealer entity. With more than 85 licences and permits spanning the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East, the business is allocating additional resources to senior compliance leadership while strengthening engagement with regulatory bodies worldwide.
In 2026, Airwallex plans to raise its compliance-related spending significantly and expand its dedicated regulatory workforce.
“I’m joining to enable Airwallex to set new standards of trust in the industry,” Carolyn shared.
“Together with regulatory collaboration and customer input, we will shape the evolving regulatory standards to design the forefront of what is possible, from real-time cross-border treasury to AI-powered financial operations.”
As part of its broader compliance strategy, the company has also implemented specialised AI tools to support processes such as KYC and business verification, anti-money laundering measures, and transaction monitoring. These systems are designed to complement human oversight by streamlining repetitive tasks and delivering structured preliminary analysis, allowing compliance professionals to focus on more complex decision-making. The approach is intended to support operational scalability while maintaining a high level of regulatory scrutiny.
“As we expand the range of financial products and services we offer globally, that velocity and complexity raises the bar for how we manage risk and compliance. Our customers expect us to set that bar, not just meet it,” Jack Zhang, Co-founder and CEO of Airwallex, commented.
“Carolyn’s experience building compliance programs at scale, across both traditional banking and high-growth technology, is exactly what this moment requires.”
Carolyn brings more than two decades of experience in regulatory litigation and compliance. She joins from FanDuel, part of Flutter Entertainment, where she held responsibility for legal and compliance functions during a period of expansion in the regulated online gaming sector. Earlier in her career, she spent over six years at JPMorgan Chase, working on regulatory engagement and remediation programmes following heightened oversight in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.
Her appointment forms part of a broader leadership structure in which Jeanette Chan, the Chief Legal Officer at Airwallex, continues to oversee legal strategy, product and commercial counsel, as well as licensing initiatives.
Together, the two executives are expected to reinforce the organisation’s legal and regulatory capabilities as it progresses to a more mature phase of global operations.
The expanded leadership and investment in compliance infrastructure underline Airwallex’s efforts to support increasingly complex cross-border financial activity while aligning with evolving regulatory expectations in multiple jurisdictions.
