Hong Kong – Vpon, a Hong Kong-based big data firm, has recently announced the appointment of Yoshitaka Shinohara as its new chief executive officer. This move comes after the official resignation of Victor Wu as the chairman of the board and CEO of the company.

Taking on this position, Shinohara, who presently holds the position of group chief strategy office and general manager at Vpon Japan, will focus on promoting the company’s expansion in Japan. The said initiative further extends to advancing the cross-border strategy “Cool Japan & Nations” while also leveraging AI and big data analysis technologies to create unique value for our clients and partners.

Serving as the CSO and general manager since 2014, Shinohara brings a strong background in big data and cross-border market expansion.

In the future, the company is set to continue strengthening their presence in the Japan market while actively exploring new markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Our strategy is built on the foundation of data-driven and DX approaches, cultural exchange, and cross-industry cooperation, aiming to achieve business success while promoting global development,” a spokesperson from Vpon said.

“We hope that through this approach, we can facilitate international cultural exchange and assist other countries in shaping and realising their respective ‘Cool Nations’ visions, serving as an important driving force for showcasing their unique charm on the global stage! ,” added the spokesperson.

Founded in 2008, Wu developed Vpon with the vision that ‘Data Drives Transactions’. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its operations from Taiwan to key Asian markets such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand.

Throughout these efforts, it has also earned trust from the Japanese government, top Asian financial institutions, and numerous Asian retail giants.

With this, the company has established cooperative relationships with institutions and industry-leading brands, including the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB), Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (OCTB), JR East, JR West, CTBC Bank, ABC Mart, and others.

These notable successes of the firm are testaments to Wu’s visionary leadership, having transformed Vpon into a leading AI data company in Asia and creating a comprehensive big data ecosystem.
