Singapore – SAS has made its AI Navigator software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution available on Microsoft Marketplace, giving organisations a centralised way to track AI use cases, manage governance and align deployments with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

The platform is designed for AI, data, compliance and risk leaders seeking visibility into the models and tools used across their organisations, including large language models (LLMs), AI agents, open-source models and SAS models. It does not require businesses to change their existing AI development processes.

“Trustworthy AI doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intention, transparency and the right governance structures from the start,” said Reggie Townsend, Vice President of SAS AI Ethics, Governance and Social Impact.

“With SAS AI Navigator, organisations can create the visibility and accountability needed to use AI confidently, responsibly and at scale,” Townsend continued.

The launch comes as organisations face growing challenges in establishing trust in AI systems. Research cited by SAS indicates that organisations with effective AI trust practices are more likely to achieve strong returns from their investments. It also highlights concerns about employees overriding AI recommendations when they cannot understand or explain how decisions were reached.

SAS AI Navigator enables organisations to catalogue AI use cases and govern the models, agents and policies associated with them. For example, businesses using customer-facing chatbots can track the underlying AI models or agents, including Claude and Microsoft Copilot, and apply policies to help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The platform covers the AI lifecycle, from experimentation and deployment to retirement. It provides a unified view of internally developed and third-party assets, while allowing users to apply internal policies and external regulations and frameworks to individual use cases.

Policy packs from SAS partners Protiviti and Asenion provide ready-to-use compliance guidelines, questions and risk classifications. These are intended to help organisations assess AI use cases without having to develop complex governance policies from scratch.

Healthcare is one sector where AI governance is particularly important. Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC), the Netherlands’ largest university medical centre, worked with SAS and Delft University of Technology to establish a laboratory focused on translating ethical principles into practical healthcare technologies. The medical centre was an early tester of SAS AI Navigator.

“We see real potential in SAS AI Navigator becoming a valuable tool for documenting and governing AI use within a healthcare organisation,” said Dr Michel van Genderen, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Internal Medicine Physician and Associate Professor at Erasmus University.

“It’s a promising foundation for centralizing AI governance processes. The structure and intent of the tool align with what we believe is needed for policy oversight,” Dr Genderen continued.

Availability through Microsoft Marketplace builds on the companies’ existing strategic partnership. The platform is designed to support AI governance across different environments, including those running on Microsoft Azure, as organisations expand their AI deployments.

SAS AI Navigator is a standalone SaaS product available to both new and existing SAS customers. It forms part of the company’s broader portfolio of AI governance offerings, drawing on its experience in helping organisations adopt and manage emerging technologies.

“Many organisations are struggling with AI sprawl as models, agents and third-party tools proliferate across the enterprise,” said Kathy Lange, Research Director, AI, Data and Automation Software at IDC.

“A centralised approach to AI governance like that offered by SAS AI Navigator can help organisations understand what AI they have, how it is being used and whether it aligns with internal policies and external regulations,” Lange continued.
