Singapore – Payment services group Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) has recently welcomed Jeremy Soo as its new chairman, starting September 1, 2024. This strategic appointment enables Soo to assume the role of Susan Hwee, who served in the same position since September 1, 2021.
Taking on this new position, Soo brings more than 30 years of expertise in consumer banking and finance. Having served as a leader in consumer banking operations, his work at DBS extends to network management, distribution, and the development of key consumer products and services, with a strong focus on digital and mobile channels.
Soo has also led several innovations and partnerships at DBS, significantly enhancing customer experiences and promoting inclusive banking at the firm. Some of these initiatives were the DBS/POSB Adopt-a-Hawker Centre program, which increased digital payment adoption across various community segments in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Hwee will assume leadership at UOB as its head of Group Retail, effective September 1. NETS rotates its chairmanship every three years, with the position alternating between its shareholder banks, DBS, OCBC, and UOB.
Lawrence Chan, group CEO at NETS, said, “We are honoured to have Jeremy lead the board and look forward to leveraging his deep expertise in innovations and ecosystems to strengthen our leadership position in the payments space.”
He further noted, “Susan has been instrumental in leading the team to navigate the dynamic and evolving payments landscape during her time. We thank her for the leadership and guidance over the past three years.”
