Singapore –  Aiming to strengthen Singapore’s cyber defence and explore emerging digital tech, NTT DATA and NTT Security Holdings have recently announced that they have signed a strategic agreement with the Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies.

In the initiative, CSIT intends to enhance the country’s cybersecurity posture, focusing on key strategic areas such as collaboration on capabilities in cyber threat intelligence technology and joint exploration of innovative digital technologies.

The partnership is further set into employing threat intelligence information in the Asia Pacific region, including advanced analytical approaches, technology exchanges across fields such as data engineering and next-generation architecture, and addressing threats posed by sophisticated actors to contribute to broader regional security.

In addition, the signed memorandum of understanding also creates a collaborative framework for exploring new opportunities together, allowing NTT Data in Singapore and NTT Security Holdings platforms to be piloted and contextualised for Singapore’s cybersecurity needs.

CSIT will benefit from shared initiatives designed to tackle specific cybersecurity issues and develop scalable defences to strengthen Singapore’s security infrastructure. Regular leadership engagement and periodic reviews will also guarantee consistent progress and improvement.

Speaking about the collaboration, Png Kim Meng, CEO of Singapore at NTT DATA, remarked, “This MoU marks another significant step in NTT DATA’s commitment to driving digital innovation and bolstering Singapore’s national security. It is imperative that in an increasingly digitally connected world, businesses are adequately equipped with the right capabilities to cope with the cybersecurity risks emerging from today’s technological advancements.

“The initiative also adds to our ongoing commitment to Singapore, where we continue to invest in talent development and sustainable innovation. We are confident that the collaboration will result in advanced solutions that enhance the nation’s defence,” he further said.

“As an agency responsible for developing capabilities to address sophisticated cyber threats, CSIT is constantly innovating our methods and building up our expertise to tackle the evolving threat landscape,” said Darren Teo, chief executive at CSIT.

“Collaboration with capable industry partners like NTT DATA in Singapore and NTT Security Holdings is crucial to bolstering our cyber defenses. The MOU signifies another step forward for us to tap on one another’s expertise and for Singapore’s national security to be strengthened,” he further explained.

The signing ceremony was conducted during CSIT’s TechCon 2024 event and was attended by senior leaders from both NTT and CSIT, as well as important stakeholders from Singapore’s public sector. More specifically, the MoU was signed by Png Kim Meng, chief executive officer, Singapore, NTT DATA, and Darren Teo, chief executive, CSIT.

It was also attended by Melvyn Ong, permanent secretary (Defence Development), and Takashi Taniyama, president, NTT DATA Asia Pacific, and executive vice president, NTT DATA, Inc.
