IN Groupe announces acquisition of IDEMIA’s smart identity for expanded geographical footprint

Paris, France – IN Groupe, an identity solutions and secure digital services firm, has recently announced the acquisition of IDEMIA Smart Identity, part of the IDEMIA Group that harnesses cryptographic and biometric technologies for secured identity.

Through the initiative, IN Groupe will be able to enhance its size, geographic reach, cutting-edge technologies, and expertise to strengthen its global standing in the physical and digital identity markets. 

The acquisition particularly bolsters their presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Asia using smart identity’s solid and complementary positions. 

The projected transaction would further offer the firm improved and integrated access to critical segments of the physical and digital identity value chain that encompass chip design and advanced software, which are key components in delivering secure identity documents. 

With this, IN Groupe and IDEMIA Smart Identity aim to establish a leading and trusted partner promoting solutions based on the European security and data protection model. 

Furthermore, said acquisition complements the company’s growth strategy pursued by IN Groupe over the past ten years, with several successful acquisitions already completed.

Under the agreement, IN Groupe will also support a significant shift in its development strategy, addressing three main challenges in the identity market. 

These include the increased demand from all clients, governments, and the private sector for secure identity solutions, protecting users’ privacy and governments sovereignty; an ever-growing trend towards the digitalisation of identity solutions, allowing access to modern services; and the rise of European standards that bolster the digital ecosystem for identity.
