Jakarta, Indonesia – Multinational digital infrastructure firm Equinix has recently named Haris Izmee as the company’s new managing director in their Indonesia headquarters.
Haris is set to lead Equinix’ growth strategy and drive expansion efforts in Indonesia. This move encompasses the recently announced JK1 International Business ExchangeTM data centre in Jakarta.
Taking on this new role, he boasts nearly a quarter of experience in cloud computing, aerospace, and technology, with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Queen Mary University of London. This portfolio is further strengthened with his strong track record of driving growth and business transformation across ASEAN markets.
In his previous roles, Harris served as a leader in the expansion and market penetration efforts among major companies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft.
Merrie Williamson, executive vice president and chief customer and revenue officer at Equinix, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Haris to Equinix to lead our team in Indonesia as we accelerate our expansion and build a world-class team in this exciting new market.”
“Our presence in Indonesia will add a high-growth market to Equinix’s extensive network of interconnected data centres worldwide. You’ll hear more from Haris in the coming months as we approach the launch of JK1 and continue our growth in this strategic region,” added Williamson.
In April 2023, Equinix and Astra announced a joint venture with a 75% and 25% equity stake, respectively, known as Equinix Indonesia, to develop the digital infrastructure in Indonesia that multinationals and local businesses need to accelerate their digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Haris shared his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I’m excited to join Equinix in its momentous journey in Indonesia! This dynamic market holds immense potential, and as a leading data centre provider, Equinix is uniquely positioned to drive growth and innovation here.”
“I’m passionate about leveraging Equinix’s robust platform to make a significant impact on Indonesia’s digital landscape and contribute to the broader region’s advancement. I look forward to collaborating with the team and unlocking new opportunities in this vibrant market,” he concluded.
Following the firm’s joint venture company with PT Astra International Tbk (“Astra”), Equinix Indonesia is now focused on creating the digital infrastructure that Indonesian multinationals and local enterprises need to expedite their digital transformation.
