New Delhi, India – Comviva has appointed Sanjiv Patankar as Product Unit Head of its fintech business, placing him in charge of digital wallets and payments, payment orchestration, embedded finance, and tokenisation.
The move signals a fresh push by the digital transformation company to scale its financial services division amid growing convergence between payments, embedded finance and artificial intelligence.
According to Comviva, Patankar will lead the company’s digital financial business, with a mandate to drive global fintech growth across digital payments, embedded finance, and next-generation financial services.
His responsibilities will also extend to product innovation, expansion into developed markets, and strengthening strategic partnerships across customers and the wider ecosystem.
Patankar brings more than 28 years of leadership experience spanning fintech, digital payments, banking technology, mobility, software products and enterprise-wide digital transformation, Comviva said.
He joins from Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) ePayments, where he spent eight years managing the company’s global ePayments product portfolio, covering digital wallets, tokenisation, digital identity, authentication and next-generation payment solutions.
During his time at G+D, he led strategic initiatives centred on product expansion, innovation and global customer engagement, contributing to the business’s growth and market positioning, according to the company.

Meanwhile, Comviva’s fintech platforms already maintain a sizeable global footprint.

In addition, Comviva is expanding its capabilities in digital commerce and merchant payments, including through strategic partnerships and payment orchestration tools designed to help businesses scale across geographies and payment ecosystems.
