Singapore – Insurance company Great Eastern has recently announced that it has teamed up with Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, aiming to migrate its databases to a single integrated cloud platform. This strategic collaboration intends to automate workloads and enhance operational efficiency across the company.

The said initiative also brings a streamlined end-to-end data management, which enables customers and financial representatives to have uninterrupted access to the platform with efficient performance and in a safer environment.

With Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer’s cloud service in its own data centres, Great Eastern is also able to address data locality and compliance requirements.

Gary Teh, managing director, Group IT at Great Eastern, stated, “We remain steadfast in our commitment to improving customer experience with product innovation to support the changing wealth and protection requirements of our customers across the region.”

“This involves optimising customer journeys through redesigned processes, harnessing our digitised assets, and leveraging advanced cloud capabilities. Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer has enabled us to provide an efficient and more reliable platform, resulting in better user experience for our customers and financial representatives,” explained Gary.

Meanwhile, Chin Ying Loong, regional managing director, ASEAN and South Asia Growing Economies (SAGE) at Oracle, said, “The life insurance sector is increasingly leveraging technology to innovate, enhance consumer experiences, and boost operational efficiencies, ultimately improving individual protection and financial well-being.”

With Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, Great Eastern can enjoy the flexibility and economic benefits of cloud in its own data centres while helping to meet local regulatory requirements. This cloud migration strengthens Great Eastern’s operations, powering them to stay at the forefront of Asia’s insurance industry,” ended Chin.

Since the migration, Great Eastern has successfully moved over 200 terabytes of data from 300 on-premises Oracle databases to the Oracle Autonomous Database on Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer in their data centres.

Amongst the databases included in the migration are the company’s financial product management systems, distributed commission management systems, and rewards systems.
